We believe getting dental crowns should be simple.
You are a busy Chicagoan with places to go and things to do. It is our commitment to make any dental work (including a new dental crown) as simple and easy as possible without sacrificing quality in any step.
Ceramic crowns erase years of wear and tear. They restore chipped or broken teeth, and they can cover up gaps between teeth and repair other damage.
In the past, getting a dental crown meant multiple visits to the dentist. You had to go in to get molds taken of your teeth with the help of gooey impression material. This was never fun. These impressions then had to be sent to an external lab to be made, and then, we had to wait for them to be shipped back to us. And finally, you had to come back in for another appointment to get them bonded to your teeth. This could take two or three weeks.
With CEREC, there is a solution.
At Barr & Diachenko, we are committed to providing top-of-the-line solutions to the Millenium Park and greater Chicago community at large. With CEREC, we are able to provide many fillings, crowns, and even dental bridges within a single visit.
Same Day Crowns
We know you care about your teeth and your time. We care about providing you with the best experience possible, which is why we are committed to using technology that gives you the best of both worlds. CEREC is a game-changing technology that removes many of the past inconveniences associated with some cosmetic dental procedures.
Crowns can work as both a functional restoration and a cosmetic solution. They can be used to protect weak teeth, restore teeth that are worn down, cover fillings, or prevent teeth from cracking or breaking further. Think of a crown as a “cap” placed over a tooth. It protects the tooth and keeps it looking good. And because we exclusively use high-quality, medical-grade ceramic, our crowns will provide you with a natural-looking and feeling smile for years to come.
What is CEREC?
CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic. With it, we are able to craft more effective, better-looking, and more affordable crowns in a fraction of the time previously required.
CEREC is a chairside mobile device that uses 3D imaging software to create a digital model of your teeth—eliminating the need for traditional impression materials—which is then sent to a milling unit that creates your custom-fitted crown on-site.
What is it like to get a dental crown with CEREC?
Once we decide a CEREC treatment is right for you, we begin by administering a localized anesthetic to numb the problematic tooth or teeth.
The tooth is then gently cleaned and the damaged area is removed, cleaned, and prepared for an optical impression with 3D imaging technology. The tooth is coated in a flavorless powder and pictures are taken and uploaded to the CEREC machine, which charts a 3D image of your teeth. This takes just two minutes and allows for greater precision than crowns shaped from molds, ensuring a more comfortable fit.
Using the CEREC machine, this constructed image is used to design your restorative treatment, which is then sent to the in-office milling machine to make your crown out of medical-grade ceramic. Instead of coming back for another visit, once your crown is prepared, this step takes around 20 minutes.
You no longer have to deal with uncomfortable temporary crowns and a waiting period that can go on for weeks. If any adjustments need to be made, there is no need to send them back to an external lab; we can adjust them in-house the same day you come in. You are able to come in, get your crown designed, bonded, shaped, and polished to perfectly fit your tooth and provide a natural look and feel. And that is it. You are good to leave with your brand new dental crown the very same day you come in.
What are the benefits of getting crowns with the help of CEREC?
Many of the benefits of CEREC are clear in the name alone. It is convenient and able to be administered chairside. Because we can complete the whole process in-house, we eliminate the third party, saving you money. It restores the damaged tooth and gives it an aesthetic, natural-looking appearance.
We make our crowns with a high-quality, medical-grade ceramic that not only restores the tooth while providing additional strength but also provides a step-up from traditional metal fillings, which could become painful and have to be replaced. There were cases where the metal filling did not form a strong enough seal around the “filled” cavity, allowing for bacteria to seep in and settle between the metal filling and the soft center of a tooth, leading to potential ongoing concerns. We use ceramic crowns with CEREC to avoid this, restoring and repairing a tooth rather than simply filling a cavity.
Caring for Your New Dental Crown.
Caring for your dental crown is simple and straightforward. With proper care, your ceramic crown can last 10 to 20 years. Remember to floss and brush your teeth at least twice a day. If you are known to clench or grind your teeth, let us know, and we will find a solution, such as a nightguard, to keep your new crown in tiptop shape.
