Drs. Barr and Diachenko utilize the latest technological advances in dental equipment and techniques to ensure your satisfaction with your visit and your continued excellent health. We know your enjoyable dental experience depends on your comfort and safety.  From Same Day Crowns with CEREC™ to the VELscope® Oral Cancer Screening system, our dental technology is cutting edge.

CEREC™ is a technological system that allows for the fabrication of all-ceramic tooth restorations in a single visit. In the past, many dental restorations required several visits to the dentist, but with the CEREC™ system, a natural-looking restoration can be custom created for you in less time.

CEREC™ uses a clean, digital impression of your teeth to allow Drs. Barr and Diachenko to create customized, porcelain restorations on site while you wait. Instead of being fitted for a temporary crown and returning for a second appointment, your dentist can place your complete, natural-looking, beautiful restoration on the same day. You’re a busy Chicagoan with places to go and things to do! With a same day crown with CEREC you can get out of the dentist’s chair and get back to your life!

There will be 41,000 Americans diagnosed with oral cancer this year, resulting in 12,500 deaths, and the fatality rate from oral cancer is especially high due to late discovery of the disease.  Your dentist is the only medical professional in a position to routinely evaluate and detect abnormalities, so Drs. Barr and Diachenko offer routine oral cancer screenings to you as a patient using the FDA approved VELscope® oral cancer screening system.  As with all cancers, early detection is vitally important, and a screening using VELscope can increase your chances of survival by 80%

VELscope® uses a safe blue light, without the aid of stains or rinses, to detect tissue abnormalities in their earliest stages – before they reach the surface and become visible. It takes only 5 minutes to protect your health and prevent you from becoming a statistic. Ask your dentist today about this powerful new tool.

Digital X-rays (Radiographs)

Digital radiographs are a technological advancement that results in less exposure to radiation for our patients and an almost instantaneous picture for Drs. Barr and Diachenko. You will appreciate a more comfortable visit as well as quicker treatment.

Sleep Apnea and Snoring

If you or a loved one snores, you are likely aware that snoring often accompanies fitful sleep. Severe snoring may also be a sign of a more serious problem like sleep apnea. Millions of people suffer from sleep apnea, a condition where the position of the structures of the mouth obstruct air flow during sleep, causing the patient to snore, and at times, to stop breathing for up to a minute or more at a time. If left untreated, sleep apnea can be very dangerous.

Drs. Barr and Diachenko can help patients with sleep apnea overcome their condition. Treatment may include the use of a customized mouthpiece, which comfortably repositions the structures of the mouth, allowing for clear breathing and uninterrupted sleep. Ask a team member about sleep apnea treatment if you suffer from snoring.

Drs. Barr and Diachenko have the expertise to perform all kinds of procedures to help your smile, but the most important service might be the knowledge of what care you need. The Caries Management by Risk Assessment (or CAMBRA) system and the CariFree system are two ways your dentist can determine what procedures are right for you, thus saving you time and money.

Drs. Barr and Diachenko use these systems to determine your risk for dental caries, also known as tooth decay, just as a cardiologist might measure your blood pressure and cholesterol to determine your risk for a heart attack. Combining a number of factors that will help your dentist diagnose problems earlier, these systems help your dental team care for your smile!

Drs. Barr and Diachenko have the expertise to perform all kinds of procedures to help your smile. Maybe the most important service your dentist provides is the knowledge of what care you need. The CariVu™ – Caries Detection Device allows your dentist to see through the tooth exposing its structure and the actual structure of any decay or cracks with very high accuracy.

Just as a cardiologist might measure your blood pressure and cholesterol to determine your risk for a heart attack, Drs. Barr and Diachenko use the CariVu™ device to identify issues in their beginning stages and help decide on a course of preventive care. When used together, a radiograph, an intra-oral photo and a CariVu image provide a comprehensive picture of the health of a patient’s tooth.

Intraoral Camera

With an intraoral camera, you can see inside your mouth during both treatment planning and dental procedures. Our intraoral camera displays your teeth on a monitor or iPad, allowing Drs. Barr and Diachenko to walk you through your proposed treatment. See what the dentist sees and better understand your care!

Digital Photographs

Digital photography gives Drs. Barr and Diachenko instant images to use for cosmetic imaging or to keep on file to track your progress. Digital images can be saved electronically and are more efficient than traditional photographs, which must be taken off-site for development.

Oral Sedation

Drs. Barr and Diachenko want you to feel comfortable and confident about coming to the dentist. For especially anxious patients, we offer Oral Sedation as a safe and reliable way for you to feel relaxed. Our dental team has extensive training in Oral Sedation Dentistry. Don’t put off important dental work because you’re afraid of dental procedures. Oral Sedation dentistry can help you relax and allow you to receive the care you need.

The Wand™

Getting a shot can be an unpleasant part of a trip to the dentist or doctor. That’s why you’ll love The Wand™. When certain dental procedures require anesthesia to keep you comfortable, relaxed, and pain free, Drs. Barr and Diachenko use The Wand so you won’t experience the stinging pain often associated with syringes. A pen-shaped tool equipped with a tiny, ultra-sharp needle, The Wand administers anesthetic slowly and freely into your body without the pain of a syringe. The result is a stress-free and pain-free dental procedure. Ask your dentist about The Wand today.

Local Anesthetic

We also offer buffered local anesthetic, which eliminates 99% of the sting because the anesthetic is the same pH as the body. It also only takes about 90 seconds to be numb. Ask your dentist if this is the right option for you.

The relationship between the upper and lower teeth when they approach one another (i.e. through chewing or at rest) is important. The T-Scan™ analysis system allows your dental team to more accurately measure occlusion (the contact between teeth). Understanding the level and timing of force on individual teeth is critical to the overall stability of your bite. The T-Scan system allows your dentists to pinpoint any potential occlusal problems and to treat patients with greater accuracy.
